A future-proof learning environment for Summa with i3CONNECT
Summa’s secondary vocational schools are a well-established name in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. With more than 26 locations across Eindhoven and the surrounding area, they offer over 250 vocational programmes across different learning pathways and levels.
A long, long time ago, classroom AV equipment consisted of interactive projectors paired with whiteboards. Today, Summa has been working with Mansveld and i3CONNECT for more than ten years to create future-proof classrooms. The result: more than 600 i3CONNECT interactive displays installed across all locations, spanning several generations. Future-proof really means future-proof here, with some displays having been in use since 2017 and still performing exactly as they should.
Aspen 4 at Summa
Alongside those trusted older models, new interactive displays have been introduced over the years. The latest generation at Summa is Aspen 4, i3CONNECT’s premium interactive touchscreen for education and business. On Mansveld’s recommendation, Summa chose Aspen 4 for its major leap in image quality compared with its predecessor, the Riva R2. The higher contrast and improved brightness create a clearer, calmer viewing experience in the classroom. Sound quality also played a big part in the decision. Aspen 4 comes with Dolby-certified 80W speakers.
For the rollout and installation of Aspen 4, i3CONNECT Cortex was used to manage the displays remotely. With i3CONNECT Cortex, settings could be deployed to every screen in one go, saving valuable time during installation.
Adoption and feedback
Hardware and management are only part of the story. Adoption matters too. Mansveld and i3CONNECT provide training and support for Summa staff, helping teams get the most from their interactive displays. At each location, so-called “i-coaches” support teachers with the day-to-day use and adoption of display features. Summa’s IT department works closely with them to introduce new functionalities, like the integrated Whiteboard in i3CONNECT Studio, which became available with Aspen 4.
To keep a clear view of user satisfaction, Mansveld sends out an annual survey to users. The feedback helps shape ongoing improvements to both classroom setup and day-to-day use.
A great partnership, now and for the future
The long-standing partnership between Summa, Mansveld and i3CONNECT shows how a smart investment in quality, ease of use and service pays off over time. With more than 600 interactive displays in use across 26 locations, Summa has built a stable, future-proof AV standard that supports teachers in their everyday teaching practice.
By investing in new technology such as Aspen 4, while also focusing on adoption, training and structured feedback, Summa is creating a learning environment that continues to meet the needs of both teachers and students, now and in the future.
