Aspen 4: Sustainability features explained
Aspen 4 is here and it’s our greenest screen yet! With Aspen 4 we’re not only raising the bar for performance, we’re also making real strides in sustainability. Our new display combines stunning QLED visuals and powerful Dolby-certified sound with features that help reduce energy use in everyday practice. Let's dive into these features!
Local dimming technology
With local dimming across up to 286 zones, you'll benefit from deeper blacks, sharper contrasts and enhanced energy efficiency. It's truly the standout sustainability feature of the Aspen 4!
Local dimming technology works by dividing the LED backlight behind the screen into multiple zones that can be dimmed or brightened independently. This means dark areas of the image receive less light, while bright areas stay vivid. The result is a picture with greater depth and realism.
From a sustainability point of view, this means considerably less energy is consumed, as only the areas of the screen that require brightness are illuminated. Darker zones use minimal power, reducing overall energy consumption significantly.
Blackboard
i3WHITEBOARD also offers a blackboard mode on other models such as the Elm 2, but it is with the Aspen 4 that the tangible benefits become clear. The unique combination of local dimming with a blackboard ensures significant savings in energy, CO2 and money.
For example, thanks to local dimming and blackboard mode, power consumption can drop from 210W to just 86W compared to whiteboard mode!
Built-in energy monitoring
On the home screen, look up and check the centre. Here you'll see your real-time savings! You can choose between showing current power usage, energy, CO2 and money saved.
The system tracks consumption over the past 7 days and users can set their own currency and energy price for accurate calculations.
This home screen widget gives you tangible proof of your energy savings, turning sustainability into something visible and measurable.
Motion and ambient light sensors
These sensors make sure that the Aspen 4's screen is always using energy smartly and efficiently. The motion sensor automatically turns the screen off when no one is in the room, preventing unnecessary power usage. Meanwhile, the ambient light sensor adjusts the screen’s brightness to match the lighting conditions in the room, ensuring optimal visibility while reducing energy consumption.
Energy modes
Aspen 4 has an eco-mode, called ' ECO friendly mode'. 'Auto mode' automatically adjusts brightness based on the lighting conditions in the room. Choosing an energy-friendly mode = choosing a lower energy bill!
Sustainability Passport
The Aspen 4's Sustainability Passport, in the form of a self-declared Environmental Product Declaration and a One-pager, backed by full Life Cycle Assessments, are currently being worked on. We'll publish it via i3DOCS and our website as soon it's ready.
